Project Overview

Stockport Exchange is part of the £1billion pound investment to regenerate Stockport, placing it firmly on the map as one of the North West’s thriving business hot spots. Both Two and Three Stockport Exchange are Grade A office buildings, with Three Stockport Exchange having a stunning communal roof terrace.

Our objective was to deliver a solution that would not only protect these buildings from water ingress, but also align with the clients’ sustainability goals and support their overall architectural vision.

Client Brief

Muse and Ryder Architecture required a waterproofing system that would guarantee the buildings’ longevity and durability while supporting their commitment to sustainability.

Alumasc’s involvement in previous phases of the development highlights our strong and trusted collaboration with Muse and Ryder Architecture. Our proven track record in delivering high-quality reliable waterproofing solutions has earned us the confidence of these industry leaders.

Solution

Following a comprehensive evaluation of the project’s requirements, we determined that our Hydrotech Hot Melt system was the ideal solution. This specification was based on its proven track record for durability, exceptional waterproofing capabilities, and its design to last the lifetime of the building structure. With over 50 years of global use and zero product failures, Hydrotech has consistently demonstrated unparalleled reliability, making it the perfect choice for this project.

Working in Partnership

As with most new build projects, early engagement and working in complete transparency is fundamental to ensure that the correct waterproofing solution is specified based on the functionality of the area in which it is to be installed.

Maintaining a trusted, collaborative relationship with Muse and Ryder Architecture throughout the entire project lifecycle—from the early design stages to onsite support, and especially during handover and aftercare—was crucial to the project’s success. Muse was particularly impressed with the aftercare provided by Alumasc Roofing’s internal and external technical support teams.

By providing full support and maintaining regular communication and coordination throughout every stage, we were able to consistently review key milestones and make necessary adjustments as needed. This approach ensured the project was delivered according to the client’s expectations and within the required timeframe.

The partnership between Alumasc and Muse is especially fulfilling due to our shared values. Muse’s dedication to integrating social values and fostering resilient, sustainable communities aligns seamlessly with our own commitment to environmentally focussed, responsibly sourced, and ethically driven solutions.

Naomi Gornall, New Build Manager North & Midlands, says “by partnering and engaging with all stakeholders early on, we have successfully collaborated to advance greener construction practices, a responsibility we take immense pride in”.

Alumasc Innovations

We are constantly advancing our product portfolio by enhancing the building envelope with innovations such as biosolar, CO2-neutralising membranes, and materials with increased recycled content.
Our collaborative approach with all stakeholders enables us to address challenges effectively and achieve both environmental objectives and high-performance standards.
